The Oakland Raiders have asked for and gotten the OK to interview Baltimore Ravens quarterbacks coach Hue Jackson for an unspecified position.

According to league sources, Jackson has aspired to become a head coach. However, the Raiders may or may not be looking for a replacement for current head man Tom Cable.

Oakland has also been looking for someone to work with the development of their former No. 1 overall pick; quarterback JaMarcus Russell.

This entire situation is clouded.

When the Raiders will interview Jackson is uncertain. What they're interviewing him for is uncertain. When there will be word on head
coach Tom Cable's fate also is uncertain.

Raiders owner Al Davis and Cable were scheduled to meet to discuss the future of the franchise last week, but the meeting never happened. The current coaching staff's future is up in the air until that meeting happens.

Cable and the Raiders are 9-19 since he replaced Lane Kiffin early in the 2008 season. This season, Oakland finished 5-11 making 2009 their seventh straight season with at least 11 losses. The only thing looking good in Oakland these day are the Raiderettes.

Jackson was named the Baltimore Ravens quarterback coach in February, 2008. Before that he was the offensive coordinator of the Atlanta Falcons in 2007.
