After a week of watching from the sideline, Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Anquan Boldin says he feels much better and is optimistic about his chances of playing in Saturday's divisional playoff game at New Orleans against the Saints.
Boldin said Tuesday he "was able to move around a little bit" for the first time since he injured his left ankle and knee on January 3rd in the Cards' regular-season finale against the Green Bay Packers.
Last weekend in the Cardinals wild-card game against those same Packers, the three-time Pro Bowler was forced to sit out Arizona's 51-45 overtime victory.
Boldin has been hoping to be able to practice sometime during this week.
"It all depends on how it responds," he said. "I was able to do a lot of lateral drills today. It still doesn't feel as good as I would like it to be but it's definitely an improvement."
Even without Boldin's 1,024 receiving yards in 2009, Arizona's offense rolled in the playoff opener. Larry Fitzgerald had a good game as usual, however wide-outs Steve Breaston and Early Doucet really helped pick up the slack.
Breaston and Doucet combined for 13 catches, 202 yards and 3 touchdowns.
The Cardinals loaded at the wide receiver position, they are 6-1 without Boldin in the line-up over the last two seasons.
