NFL Betting Odds The New York Giants played themselves right out of the NFC playoff picture last week with a shocking 41-9 home loss to the Carolina Panthers. Now, at 8-7, New York can only spoil postseason seeding for Minnesota when they head to the Metrodome to take on the Vikings in their finale.
Brett Favre and the Vikings will look to not blow the No. 2 seed and get a much needed win heading into the playoffs. Minnesota is 11-4, but they are doing their best to ruin a great season as they have lost three of four down the stretch.
NFL odds makers are calling the Vikings a heavy road favorite in this one. The spread in Vegas is sitting at more than a touchdown with the line at, Minnesota -8. The total in the game is set at 48.
The Giants may already be one of the league's biggest disappointments in 2009. The Vikings surprisingly, could be soon joining the party with the way they are playing to finish the season.
Minnesota
"We are 7-0 at home right now and the Metrodome is a great environment," coach Brad Childress said. "We want to make sure that we take care of that home. It is a great advantage. That is why people are fighting to get that home field advantage."
The Vikings' offense has been forced to rely on Favre the last four weeks with opponents slowing down Adrian Peterson. The dynamic Minnesota running back is third in the league with 1,329 rushing yards and first with 17 rushing touchdowns. Peterson's per-carry average the last four games is down to 3.3 after being at 4.7 through the first 11 games.
Having to rely on Favre has been the Vikings biggest problem. Expect Minnesota to get back to balance on offense or there season will be over quickly in the playoffs.
This game will be closer than the 8 points. Take the Giants getting the points.
