The Pirates are retuning to the Liberty Bowl for the second consecutive season after defeating then-No. 18 Houston 38-32 in the Conference USA championship game. East Carolina is the first team to win consecutive titles since the conference switched to a two-division format
"While one of our goals each year is to represent Conference USA in the AutoZone Liberty Bowl as a champion, having the chance to return to Memphis after our experience a year ago makes this trip even more special," coach Skip Holtz said. "We're looking forward to the challenge of Arkansas, a program with a great tradition and history out of a conference (SEC) which certainly speaks for itself."
The Razorbacks are one of the nation's top passing offenses. Quarterback Ryan Mallett threw for more than 3,400 yards and 29 touchdowns in 2009. The Hogs are in the top 10 in the nation in scoring and passing.
There should be a lot of areal fireworks on Saturday as neither team defends the pass very well.
Expect a lot of points to be scored in this game. The winner may very well be the last team that touches the ball.
Take the Pirates getting the 8 points.
