Insight Bowl Odds Tempe, Arizona will rockin' on New Year's Eve as the Minnesota Golden Gophers take on the Iowa State Cyclones in the Insight Bowl in Sun Devil Stadium.
Just one year removed from a ten-loss season, 6-6 Iowa State is set to play in its first postseason game in four years when it faces the 6-6 Golden Gophers. The Cyclones are excited to be a bowl selection after last season's disappointing year.
NCAA odds makers are looking for this game to be extremely close as the spread in Vegas is sitting at less than a field goal. The line in currently set at, Minnesota -2 with the total in the contest at 48.5.
Despite how close the distance is between Iowa State and Minnesota and the intense rivalry each school has with the Iowa Hawkeyes, this will be the first meeting between these programs in over a decade.
There last meeting was in
The Gophers have struggled on both sides of the ball at times this season. However, their offense has been extremely inconsistent.
They finished last in the Big Ten in scoring with just 21.6 points per game and total offense with only 295.8 yards per game. Turnovers have also been a big problem for the team, with quarterback Adam Weber tossing 14 interceptions to 12 touchdowns.
Iowa State's offense is built around the run game. Running back missed some time with a groin injury, but still managed to break the 1,000 yard mark. His 1,058 yards were fourth-best in the Big 12.
I like Iowa State in this one. They have more playmakers on the field and should control the clock with the ground game. Minnesota will be without their best player with wide-out Eric Decker done for the season with an injury.
Take the Cyclones getting the 2 points.
