Tennessee Titans The National Football League comes in to you living room Christmas Night when the San Diego Chargers head to Nashville to take on the Tennessee Titans. But don't expect these to teams to be in a festive mood.
These two teams flat-out do not like each other. In 2007, the Chargers won in overtime at Tennessee in a tough, nasty game. Several players were hurt, and four players were fined a total of $32,500.
NFL odds makers see this one being extremely close. The line in Vegas is sitting at less than a field goal with the Titans set at, -2 with the total in the game at 48.
In the game a couple of years back, Chargers linebacker Shawne Merriman sprained his left knee, and he and fellow outside linebacker Shaun Phillips still think it was a cheap shot. Five weeks after
Phillips and the rest of the Chargers expect the same kind of game when 11-3 San Diego tries to win their 10th straight game and lock up the No. 2 playoff seed against a Titans team barely alive in the playoff hunt. Tennessee is 7-7.
The Titans defense took a big hit this week when they got the news that they have lost two starting defenders to season-ending injuries.
Keith Bulluck, the teams top tackler, and linebacker David Thornton are done for the year, Bulluck with a torn left ACL and Thornton with having surgery to repair his shoulder and pectoral muscle.
Look for this to be too much for the Titans to over come. They have made an improbable run at the post-season, but that ends tonight.
Take the Chargers getting the 2 points.
