Jets vs Dolphins
Jets vs Dolphins
How can two teams that combined for only 5 wins last year be playing in one of the most anticipated games in week one? Easy, add in the greatest quarterback in the history of the NFL. Brett Favre leads the New York Jets into Miami to take on the Dolphins. Not to mention, QB Chad Pennington making his debut as a Dolphin against the team that released him in favor of Brett. Instant intrigue.

"There's a lot of reasons to want to watch this game," Favre said. "But once the first kickoff takes place, it's all about football, that's going to be the case all year long."

Let talk about the actual game. The Jets are 3 point favorites on the road with the total sitting at 36. New York finished just 4-12 in 2007, two of those wins being against the 1-15 Dolphins.

The Jets made significant strides to improve up front by adding Pro Bowl guard Alan
Faneca and Damien Woody, they improved at the QB position by adding Favre. The Jets also signed veteran fullback Tony Richardson to help in the run game. In the draft they selected talented rookie receiving TE Dustin Keller. There is no question that the Jets are more talented than they were a year ago, but will coach Eric Mangini be able to bring these new faces together enough to be successful.

The Dolphins and new head coach Tony Sparano can easily say they have upgraded at QB with the addition of Chad Pennington. RB Ricky Williams is back in shape, had a strong preseason and will start on Sunday. The Fins will be counting on this years #1 draft pick Jake Long as well as last years #1 pick Ted Ginn to be productive in order to be successful in 2008.

With all the question marks in this one, go with the one thing we know for sure, Brett Favre can still sting it. Take the Jets and give the 3 points.
