Oregon State Beavers
Oregon State Beavers
Tuesday night in Sam Boyd Stadium, the 2009 Las Vegas Bowl kicks off with the Oregon State Beavers taking on the BYU Cougars. Brigham Young is 10-2, while OSU comes in at 8-4.

Not much should surprise BYU about the Las Vegas Bowl, considering the Cougars will be playing in the game for the fifth consecutive year. The Cougars are 2-2 against Pac-10 teams in the bowl.

NCAA odds makers see this one as being pretty close as the spread is listed at about a field goal. The line is set at, Oregon State -3 with the total in the contest at 58.5.

Looking for their third bowl victory in four seasons, the 15th-ranked Cougars and quarterback Max Hall look for their first postseason victory since beating UCLA 17-16 in 2007. The senior signal caller has passed for 11,173
and 91 touchdown in his career at BYU including, more than 3,300 yards and 30 touchdowns in 2009.

Hall's 31 career victories is the most in BYU history.

The Beavers feature quarterback Sean Canfield and the Rodgers brothers, running back Jacquizz and receiver James.

Make no mistake, Oregon State will be ready to play in this one, however, they had their sights set first trip to the Rose Bowl since 1964, before they had a four-game winning streak snapped with a 37-33 loss at No. 7 Oregon on December 3rd.

This game could come down to strength against strength as the BYU rush defense, ranked 23rd in the country, faces sophomore Jacquizz Rodgers. The first-team all-Pac-10 running back ran for 1,377 yards and a school-record 20 touchdowns.

I like the Beavers in this one. Take Oregon and give the 3 points.
