Arizona Cardinals Odds The Arizona Cardinals head to Detroit coming off one of, if not their sloppiest performances of the season against the San Francisco 49ers last Monday night. The Cards had seven turnovers, including five fumbles, in the 23-9 loss to the Niners, suffering a letdown after beating NFC North-leading Minnesota 30-17 on December 6th.
After all those give-a-ways, Arizona is tied for third in the NFL with 29 turnovers. No other team near the top of that list is even close to contending for a playoff spot, but the Cardinals can clinch the NFC West title with a win and a 49ers loss at Philadelphia on Sunday.
NFL odds makers are calling Arizona a heavy road favorite in this one against the Lions. The spread in Vegas is sitting at, the Cardinals -14 with the total in the game set at 47.
A big concern for the Cardinals all
Fitzgerald injured his knee early in the third quarter versus San Francisco but returned to the game with 3:23 to play. An MRI early in the week determined Fitzgerald suffered a bruised bone and a sprained right knee. He is officially list as questionable, but expect him to be in the line-up.
The Lions are 2-11 and have been out of any playoff contention, since Barry Sanders was running the ball for them. There is a good chance that Matthew Stafford will be out and Daunte Culpepper will most likely get the start.
Whoever starts at quarterback won't have Kevin Smith in the backfield to help. He suffered a season-ending knee injury against the Ravens.
After the way the Cards played last week, I think they will be focused and play well on the road. This one could get ugly.
Take the Cardinals and give the points.
