Brandon Marshall Denver Broncos wide receiver Brandon Marshall's single-game receptions record of 21 grabs was made during Denver's 28-16 loss to Indianapolis on Sunday.
"I believe it was one of those games where, whenever you accomplish something like that, it definitely feels good," Marshall commented "But we have goals, and our only goal is to win games. I'd definitely trade in a couple of those catches for a win."
Marshall finished with 200 yards and two touchdowns bettering his team record of 18 catches set in 2008 against the 49ers and exceeded Terrell Owens mark set in 2000.
He tied with Owens in the fourth quarter on a 5-yard touchdown pass from Kyle Orton and broke the record on the final offensive play, gaining 7 yards on a fourth-down
Feeling good about his chances for a win against the Colts, Marshall told his receiving coach before the game, "I think this is going to be the best game I've ever played."
At halftime Marshall had 10 catches and 15 by the end of the third quarter.
"Someone came up to me and said I was close," he said. "I didn't have an idea of where I was."
In the third quarter, Marshall missed a play on a third-and-6 at the Colts 20 allowing Indianapolis to maintain their 21-7 lead. Much of their loss had to do with the rest of the team's eight catches for just 77 yards.
"When you lose, you lose," Broncos coach Josh McDaniels said. "There's no moral victories in this league. We understand where we want to go. We just got a really close-up look of it for four quarters."
