Sunday afternoon in Arrowhead Stadium, the Kansas City Chiefs get set to host the Buffalo Bills with not much more than pride for both teams to play for.
At 3-9, the Chiefs are out of the playoff race, while the 4-8 Bills may have been mathematically eliminated from the post season yet, realistically they are done as well. But that doesn't mean that this match-up of AFC teams may not be an exciting one. Last season, Buffalo and Kansas City put up some serious offensive numbers in a 54-31 shootout win for the Bills.
NFL odds makers see this one to be pretty close as the line opened at a pick'em, however with a lot of early action coming in on Buffalo, the Vegas spread has moved calling the Bills road favorites. The line is currently at, Buffalo -2 with the total in the contest set at 37.5.
When it become official and the Bills miss the post-season again in 2009, it will mark their 10th straight year without a post season appearance, matching Detroit for the NFL's longest active drought.
It is going to be interesting to see what happens in the ground game in this one.
The Bills have been particularly vulnerable against the run, surrendering an NFL-worst 172.1 yards a contest, while the Chiefs are tied for 29th in yards per rushing attempt, and its offense ranks 30th overall, averaging 265.6 yards per game.
The Buffalo offense isn't much better averaging just 272 yards per game, while the Kansas City defense has really show that they can stop anyone either.
Look for the offenses to breakout in this one.
Take the over 37.5 points. I think this one might surprise some people.
