Tennessee football coach Lane Kiffin says he was not "aware" of any recruiting violations committed by himself, his assistants or support staff regarding the university's student ambassador program.

The NCAA is probing the Volunteer's football recruiting practices, more specifically, the use of recruiting "hostesses" who have apparently helped the program convince prep prospects to choose Tennessee by befriending them and attending their high school games.

Because the hostesses are a part of the university's Orange Pride student ambassador group, they would be considered an extension of the university. This could be considered a violation of NCAA rules if they helped recruit prospective athletes off campus.

Orange Pride is one of three student admissions groups that serve as ambassadors for the university. Orange Pride's responsibilities include staffing admissions programs, providing campus tours and hosting prospective athletes and their families. The group has 75 students and interacts with students across campus.

One high school athlete that a group of Orange Pride hostesses allegedly visited, some 200 miles from the university has since decided that Tennessee was not for him, however, two of his teammates made and oral commitment after their visit.

"The hostesses were real pretty, real nice and just real cool," said the recruit.

He went on to say that he thinks they had a lot of influence in his teammates making oral commitments.

Kiffin said during a news conference on Thursday he and his staff take the rules of the NCAA and SEC "extremely serious." He says he doesn't know of any wrongdoing by any of his staff or "of the kids that are being questioned in this."
