In week two the #15th ranked BYU Cougars travel to Washington to take on the Huskies. BYU comes in having not won a non-conference road game in six years. Washington will be trying to rebound from last weeks lose to Oregon State. Washington will be a home dog against the Cougars. BYU is favored by 9 points with the total being set at 55.
BYU coach Bronco Mendenhall said, "This is our third different football team in this scenario going against good opponents on the road. I think I've learned as a head coach and our team has matured. I think we're on track and our play will show that."
Winning away from Provo has not been an easy task for the Cougars. That's not good for a team looking to break into the BCS. This weekends game against the Huskies could be the Cougars best chance to change their road losing ways and be a nice momentum boost for their match up next week against UCLA in Utah.
Washington is a young team that was dominated last week against Oregon State 44-10. The embarrassing lose last week has only fueled talk of head coach Tyrone Willingham's job being in jeopardy.
"I'm aware of it and I'm disappointed as they (the fans) are, as I think our entire football team is," Willingham told reporters earlier this week. "We felt we could go down there and win."
Don't expect Willingham to gain any job security this week, BYU should snap their non-conference losing streak. Take the Cougars and give the 9 points on the road.
