NCAA Betting Odds Amidst all the rumors of Cincinnati coach Brian Kelly and his possible bid for the vacant Notre Dame job, the Bearcats head to Heinz Field to take on the Pittsbugh Panthers with the winner earning the Big East Championship and the conference's Bowl Championship Series berth.
Kelly has the Bearcats ranked No. 5, 11-0 overall, and 6-0 in the conference and in any other season, a win against Pitt would almost certainly land Cincinnati in the BCS Championship game. Not this year and a loss could knock them out of a BCS Bowl all together.
NCAA odds makers see this one as being extremely tight. The spread in Vegas is at less than a field goal as the line is sitting at, Cincinnati -2.5 with the total set at 58.
With the
Pitt has won one Big East title in 2004, but went on to get beat-up Utah in the Fiesta Bowl. The Panthers haven't won 10 games since going 11-1 in 1981, Dan Marino's junior season.
The Panthers have has their sights set on competing for a conference title since the beginning.
"At the beginning of the season, we talked about winning the Big East championship," coach Dave Wannstedt said. "We can accomplish that next week, so we'll turn the page on this week fast."
Pitt has a good squad, the Cincinnati might be too tough for the Panthers, even at home.
Take the Bearcats and give the 2.5 points.
