New York Jets Odds
Coming off last season when they were tied for the best record in the conference, the Panthers Surely expected to return to the post-season and go deep into the NFC playoffs. Instead, sitting at 4-6, Carolina probably needs to win out to keep any hope alive for playing into January.

Sunday when they head to the Meadowlands to take on the New York Jets, they are running into another team that is in the same boat. New York is also at 4-6, looking up at the rest of the playoff contenders.

NFL odds makers are calling the Jets a home favorite in this one. The spread in Vegas is a little more than a field goal as the line is sitting at, New York -3.5 with the total in the contest set at 41.5.

For the Panthers to return to the playoffs, they must overcome a schedule that includes meetings with division leaders New England and Minnesota, as well as the Giants and currently unbeaten New Orleans.

Jets
coach Rex Ryan is sticking with rookie Mark Sanchez as the starter even after he threw four interceptions and lost a fumble in a 31-14 loss to New England last Sunday. During the Jets' current 1-6 slump, Sanchez has thrown six touchdown passes and 14 interceptions.

"I just think that he's not going to get better unless he gets out and plays," Ryan said. "It's clearly not just Mark's fault. There's a reason he was named the starter, that I thought he gave us the best opportunity to win, and I still feel that."

Through all Sanchez's problems running back Thomas Jones has continued to be productive. Jones has pounded out more than 600 yards in the Jets' last five games. The 31 year old tailback is averaging 4.6 yards per carry on the season.

I look for both of these teams to try and control the game on the ground. Long, sustained drives will keep the clock moving and the score low.

Take the under 41.5 points in the Jets - Panthers game this Sunday.
