Stanford Cardinal Odds Saturday night in Stanford Stadium, the Notre Dame Irish may just be fighting to save head coach Charlie Weis' job as they head west to take on the Cardinal. If that is even possible.
Going into the season, Fighting Irish fans expected this game at Stanford to be a good one to end the year with. Almost everybody has respect for Jim Harbaugh and love what he has done with the program while Notre Dame was expected to be contending for a BCS Bowl berth.
Stanford has done its part, but Weis and the Irish have not. Notre Dame has been a huge disappointment this season and as a whole, Charlie Weis, the supposed offensive genius, has been a failure as a head coach.
For this week, NCAA odds makers see the Fighting Irish as a huge underdog, and for good reason. With Stanford pulling out dominant wins against teams like Oregon and USC, the spread
Toby Gerhart has been the workhorse for the Cardinal. His 1591 yards rushing and 23 touchdowns has not only been a big reason for Stanford's success, it has caused his name to be thrown out in the Heisman conversation.
Freshman quarterback Andrew Luck has been a nice compliment to Gerhart for Stanford with 2377 passing yards, 13 touchdowns and just four interceptions.
For the Irish, off to a 6-2 start, Jimmy Clausen and Golden Tate were putting up big numbers, but after three straight losses, there is talk that Notre Dame may not even want to play in a bowl game.
Though the Fighting Irish have not shown anything but turmoil lately, they have been in all three of their latest defeats. I don't see Notre Dame winning this game but they should keep it close.
Take the Irish getting the 10 points on the road.
