BYU Cougars Odds Saturday in Provo, Mountain West Conference rivals square-off when 19th ranked Brigham Young hosts the No. 21 Utah Utes in LaVell Edwards Stadium as they jockey for the bowl positioning.
Both teams are 9-2 over all and 6-1 in the MWC as they look up at unbeaten TCU. However, bragging rights in the Beehive State will ensure great intensity in this one. Affectionately know as "The Holy War" this rivalry, began in 1896 when the Cougars were known as Brigham Young Academy. Utah leads the series 53-33-4.
NCAA odds makers are calling BYU a little more than a touchdown home favorite as the line in Vegas is sitting at, the Cougars -7.5 with the total in the game set at 53.5.
Both teams lost to conference champion TCU. The Horned Frogs need one more win to finish unbeaten at 12-0 and hope to earn an "at large" BCS bowl berth.
If TCU gets that bid, that would likely send the winner of Saturday's
BYU comes in rolling after beating Air Force 38-21 last week. That makes three in a row for the Cougars as quarterback Max Hall may just be hit his stride.
Hall passed for a season-high 377 yards and five touchdowns while becoming the school's all-time winningest quarterback, surpassing former Heisman Trophy winner Ty Detmer's 29 victories.
However, Hall biggest test might just be this week against Utah's 15th-ranked defense. Utah seeks its sixth win in eight years over the Cougars and its sixth in eight trips to Provo. The Utes are also trying to clinch the fifth 10-win season in school history and fourth since 2003.
This is going to be a fun game to watch. The strength of the Utah defense against Hall and the BYU offense will be intense. I like the home team in this one.
Take the Cougars and give the 7.5 points.
