Turkey Day Picks
Thursday in Detroit, a Thanksgiving Day football tradition continues with the Detroit Lions hosting the Green Bay Packers at Ford Field in a NFC North match-up.

The Lions are coming off and big win over the Cleveland Browns, but it's looking more and more like they will be without quarterback Matthew Stafford and receiver Calvin Johnson.

Stafford dislocated his left shoulder during Sunday's dramatic 38-37 victory, but stayed in to make the game-winning throw with his right arm after being hit on the previous play.

Johnson had a career-best 161 yards receiving against the Browns, including a 75-yard touchdown from Stafford, but hand and knee injuries have forced him to watch practice with his quarterback this week.

Both are officially listed as, questionable, but neither expects to play.

It's no surprise NFL
odds makers like the Packers in this one. The spread in Vegas is at more than two scores. The line is sitting at, Green Bay -11 with the total in the game set at 47.5.

The 6-4 Packers would love to continue their dominance over the Lions and get to 7 wins, but they come into this one banged-up as well.

Cornerback Al Harris and linebacker Aaron Kampman have both been lost for the season after being injured agianst the 49ers last Sunday. Without those two veterans in the lineup, the Packers struggled to shut down San Francisco, allowing 21 second-half points.

The good news for the Pack is that facing a Lions offense without Stafford and Johnson may be just what they need to get used to playing without their defensive leaders.

The safe play is to take the Packers and give the points. Don't get caught up in how well Detroit played last week.

After all, they are still the Lions.
