Sunday in the Meadowlands, Giants Stadium will be rocking as a pair of 5-4 teams fight for their playoff lives as the Atlanta Falcons come into town to take on Eli Manning and the New York Football Giants.
The G-Men looked dominant during a 5-0 start but hasn't been able to get a win since. New york was in good position to break out of their slump in their last game before allowing Phillip Rivers and the San Diego to march 80 yards in the final 2 minutes for the winning touchdown in a 21-20 loss two weeks ago.
NFL odds makers like the Giants chances as they are listed at about a touchdown home favorite. The spread in Vegas is sitting at, New York -7 with the total in the game set at 46.
Giants head coach Tom Coughlin is know as one of the leagues toughest guy to play for. He has a reputation as being one of the NFL's hardest disciplinarians. However, Coughlin used a little bit different strategy during New York's bye week to get his team back on track.
He gave them some time off.
"That was the purpose, obviously, and they should certainly have done that," Coughlin said. "Before they left we told them to have a good vacation and spend some time with their families, relax and get away from football, get away from the routine."
The Falcons have been struggling lately as well. After a 4-1 start, Atlanta has lost 3-of-4 and find themselves chasing the 9-0 New Orleans Saints in the NFC South. Being four games back with seven to play, they won't catch them.
To make matters worse they will without running back Michael Turner who will be out with an ankle injury. Back-up Jason Snelling is expected to start in Turner's place.
Look for the Giants to get back to basics and run the ball with Brandon Jacobs. The Giants will win and cover.
Take New York and give the 7 points.
