A Game Of Chess
A Game Of Chess
Brett Favre is following his usual pattern of playing head games in the off season with the Green Bay Packers. This year, however, the Packers are giving him a taste of his own medicine.

The past few years, Favre has waited as long as possible to let the Packers know whether he was coming back to play or not. He tried to avoid that circus this year by just retiring, but now he is having second thoughts.

The only difference between this year and past years is how the Packers are responding to Favre. They have decided that the best way to get rid of Favre is to hurt him where they know it hurts the most. His ego.

By telling Favre he is no longer the starting quarterback for a team that he has guided to greatness, they are basically upsetting him to
the point where he cuts the cord. It's kind of like a girlfriend that wants to get rid of her boyfriend, but doesn't have the guts to break up with him.

So instead, the girlfriend just does the things she knows will annoy the boyfriend to the point where he will break up with her. Not the best way to treat the face of your franchise for over the past decade.

Favre is not completely to blame. He has left the Packers hanging in the wind for two years straight, and had they allowed it, he would have done it again this year. At some point, the powers that be had to take back control of their organization from Favre.

They have done that, and now Favre insists he wants to play. Something will have to give, which side cracks first will be the question. For the first time, it looks as though that might be Favre.
