Saturday night in Austin, Big 12 rivals Texas and the Kansas Jayhawks collide as the Longhorns look to remain perfect in the conference at Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium.
At 10-0 overall and 6-0 in the Big 12, Texas' Colt McCoy seems poised to become the all-time winningest quarterback in NCAA history and the Longhorns are set to book a trip to the Big 12 championship as it faces a team that appears to be in turmoil.
NCAA odds makers are calling Texas a huge home favorite in this one. The spread in Vegas is at about four touchdowns as the line is sitting at, the Longhorns -27.5 with the total in the contest at 57.
The 5-5 Jayhawks fell to 1-5 in the Big 12 last week as they got smoked by the Nebraska Cornhuskers at home 31-17. Quarterback Todd Reesing struggled as the one-time Heisman candidate completed less than half of his 41 attempts for just 236 yards and one touchdown.
Kansas would like the story surrounding it's visit to Austin to center around Big 12 passing leader Reesing' return to his hometown, but a situation surrounding their head coach has overshadowed that.
Mark Mangino is facing allegations of verbal abuse and inappropriate physical contact against players.
"We are sending kids out into the world prepared," Mangino said. "But I can't do the work of some parents. Some of these guys are bitter, they are bitter and the allegations are about that. There are some things that happen for 18 years of their lives that I can't change in four years of college."
Many feel that the Jayhawks don't have a chance in this one and I might be one of them, however, I feel that Reesing and his Kansas teammates will rally around their coach and play well enough to keep the score within the 27.5 points.
Take the Jayhawks getting the points.
