This Sunday in Nashville, the Tennessee Titans host the Buffalo Bills at LP Field in an AFC Conference showdown that pits two teams needing a serious turn around in the second half of the season if they want to contend.
The Titans are 2-6, but have won two straight since re-inserting Vince Young as the starting quarterback. The Bills are 3-5 and won 2 out of their last three before heading into the bye week last Sunday.
NFL odds makers like the Titans chance to make it three straight this week against Buffalo. The Vegas line is sitting at, Tennessee -8 with the total in the game set at 41.
For the Bills, quarterback Trent Edwards has been cleared to return following a month-long absence due to a concussion, but he wasn't much better than backup Ryan Fitzpatrick before the injury, throwing just one touchdown to five interceptions with a 54.6 passer rating in his last four games.
With the addition of Terrell Owens, the Bills were supposed to get a whole lot better on offense in 2009, but he has totaled just 281 yard thus far. Owens missed practice early in the week with a strained hip, however he returned to work an Thursday and is expected to be ready to go on Sunday.
Since Young has take over as the quarterback, has not put up great numbers, but the bottom line is that the team is winning.
He has thrown for just 297 yards and a touchdown, however, the former No. 3 overall pick has completed 73.0 percent of his passes and hasn't turned the ball over.
I think that the return of Edwards will provide a spark to the Buffalo Bills offense, at least for the short term. This game will be closer than the 8 point the Titans have to give.
Take the Bills getting the points on the road.
