Stanford Stadium will be rocking on Saturday afternoon as the 8th ranked Oregon Ducks come in to town to take on the Cardinal in what could prove to be a very interesting Pac-10 conference match-up.
Stanford comes in to this weeks game at 5-3 overall and 4-2 in the conference while the Duck are 7-1 and looking to get to a perfect 6-0 in the Pac-10. At No. 8, Oregon ranks the highest of the one-loss teams in the BCS Standings.
NCAA odds makers are calling the Ducks more than a touchdown road favorite in this one against the Cardinal. The Vegas line is sitting at, Oregon -7.5 with the total in the contest set at 58.5.
Leading into this week's showdown with Stanford, the Oregon football program has been surrounded by rumors concerning suspended running back LeGarrette Blount. The Senior tailback has been out of action since punching Boise State defensive end Byron Hout following a season-opening loss.
Duck coach Chip Kelly allowed Blount to practice with the team and said he could return if he met certain conditions. The Oregon coach targeted the Stanford game as a possible end to his suspension. However, Kelly has not reinstated Blount yet.
"When we have an announcement, we'll make it," said Kelly on Monday.
In Blount's absence, freshman LaMichael James has stepped in and done an excellent job carrying the load on the ground. James has rushed for 918 yards this season to rank third in the Pac-10.
Stanford has gotten solid play out of running back Toby Gerhart and quarterback Andrew Luck. Gerhart is the Pac-10's leading rusher. He pounded our 125 yards and a touchdown October 24th as the Cardinal snapped a two-game slide with a 33-14 win over visiting Arizona State.
The Cardinal is not a bad team, but the Ducks just have too much fire-power. Look for Stanford to hang in for a while, but Oregon will pull away late. Take the Ducks and give the 7.5 points.
