Fresno States vs Rutgers
On Monday, Labor Day the Scarlet Knights of Rutgers host the Fresno State Bulldogs in the season opener at Rutgers Stadium in Piscataway, NJ. The Scarlet Knights are a 4 point favorite in their first game in the post Ray Rice era. In a game in which should see plenty of scoring, odds makers are calling the over 58.

After a disappointing 2006, Fresno State bounced back in 2007. After a shaky start, the Bulldogs won 8 of their final 10 games including a victory in the Humanitarian Bowl over Georgia Tech. Fresno State looks to build on 2007 and is one of this years favorites to win the Western Atlantic Conference. They return veteran starting QB Tom Brandstater as well as deep threat WR Marlin Moore. The Bulldogs running attack is anchored by Brian Matthews and Lonyae Miller at tailback.

Rutgers
is coming off an 8-5 campaign in 2007 that included a 51-30 victory in the International Bowl against Ball State. The Scarlet Knights may have lost their all-time leading rusher Ray Rice to the NFL, but record setting QB Mike Teel returns to lead what is still a talented offense. Teel will look to 1000 yard receivers, Kenny Britt and Tiquan Underwood to stretch the field in 2008. Kordell young and Mason Robinson will try to replace Rice in the ground game.

The big question will be on the offensive line. Only center Ryan Blaszczyk and Anthony Davis return from last year. Davis will be moving from guard to left tackle.

"In college football, you don't have pre-season games, so everything is right off the bat," said coach Greg Schiano. "So we better be ready."

This one will be a shoot out, stay away from the line, anything can happen. Go with the over 58.
