Thursday night in Chapel Hill, the North Carolina Tar Heels will play host to Bobby Bowden and the Florida State Seminoles at Kenan Stadium as both teams look for their first conference win.
Before the season began there was a lot expected from these two teams but so far they have both been a bust. The Tar Heels may be 4-2 over all, but with both of their losses coming to ACC foes a win against FSU could get them moving in the right direction.
NCAA odds makers see this one as being a pretty close game as the Vegas line is sitting at, North Carolina -3 with the total in the game set at 48.
The Florida State Seminoles have been a bettors nightmare this season. Their 2-4 overall record includes wins at then ranked No. 7 BYU in a game that the Noles looked like National Champions and their only home win against Jacksonville State, 19-9. I game they should have dominated, but could have lost.
Last week against Georgia Tech, the Seminole offense shined. Quarterback Christian Ponder had a terrific game as he completed 26 of his 36 passes for 359 yards and five touchdowns. However, the Florida State defense gave up 532 yards to Tech's offense and FSU lost 49-44 in a shootout.
North Carolina improved to 4-2 on October 10th and snapped a two game losing streak, beating Georgia Southern 42-12 at home. Tonight against the Noles, head coach Butch Davis needs his defense to come up big.
I like the Tar Heels at home in this one. Their defense matches up well against the Noles.
Take North Carolina and give the three points at home.
