Florida Gators
Florida Gators
The BCS has spoken and the Florida Gators are the number one team in the nation despite falling to No. 2 in the Associated Press poll. Florida, Alabama and Texas hold the top three spots in this season's the first BCS standings and control their on destiny in the race for a national title.

The Gators (.988) are on top, just ahead of the Crimson Tide (.952) and Texas (.891) is third. Of course the BCS's number one and number two teams will play in the BCS title game on Jan. 7 at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena to decide a national champion.

The Boise State Broncos are is fourth, but they would seem to be a huge long shot to play for a national championship as, with the strength of their remaining schedules, the Gators, Tide and Longhorns just need to win out to reach title game.

The
Gators and the Crimson Tide will most likely face-off in the SEC Championship.

Rounding out the top 5, the 6-0 Cincinnati Bearcats are fifth. At No. 5, the Bearcats have their highest ranking in school history.

The rest of the Top 10 include the unbeaten Iowa Hawkeyes and the first of the one-loss teams near the top is the USC Trojans. At No. 8 are the TCU Horned Frogs, at No. 9 are the LSU Tigers and in the 10 spot the 5-1 Miami Hurricanes are back.

In the first 11 years of the BCS, the top two teams in the first standings have reached the title game only once. Texas and Southern California did it in the 2005 season. Overall, 10 of the 22 teams that were ranked first or second in the first standings made it all the way to the championship game.

It will be interesting to see how the rest of the season plays out.
