Tonight in the Metrodome, one of the most anticipated match-ups of the 2009 regular season gets set to take place when Brett Favre and the Minnesota Vikings host the Green Bay Packers on Monday Night Football on ESPN.

Green Bay comes in at 2-1 looking to pull even with the 3-0 Vikings, but records won't have a lot to do with the intensity level in this one as Favre faces the Packers for the first time since his bitter divorce from one of football's most storied franchises.

NFL odds makers are calling the Vikings home favorites as the Vegas line sits at, Minnesota -5.5 with the total in the game set at 46.5.

All eyes might be on Brett Favre, but Minnesota running back Adrian Peterson will be the key for the Vikings in tonight's game. So far in 2009, Peterson has rushed for over 350 yards and four touchdowns through three games. Peterson's running has enabled the Vikings offense to control the ball on offense and keep their defense off of the field for long stretches.

Favre has not had to take the team on his back and win all by himself. That is, until last week against the San Francisco 49ers when the future Hall of Famer showed that there was still some magic left in his right arm.

Down 24-20 to the Niners, Favre zipped a pass to Greg Lewis in the back of the end zone in the final seconds for a classic Favre finish.

For the Packers, quarterback Aaron Rodgers has done an exceptional job following the legendary Brett Favre. Rodgers has thrown for more than 700 yards and four touchdowns and no interceptions through the first three games. He helped the Packers bounce back from a home loss to Cincinnati with a big effort last Sunday against the St. Louis Rams.

Tonight's game in a bettors nightmare, there are so many emotions that can't be accounted for on paper. Favre may say it doesn't matter, but we all know that he wants to stick-it to his old team. Aaron Rodgers has been pretty quiet through all of this but he must want to do the same to prove that the Pack didn't make a mistake with him.

Both offense will be motivated and this one is going to be an old-fashion shootout. Take the over 46.5 points and sit back and watch the scoreboard light up.
