With the Florida State Seminoles sitting at 2-3 and the state of the program in question, school officials could be in a difficult situation, because Bowden says he isn't planning on quitting anytime soon.

FSU hasn't lost it's third game this early in the season since Bowden's inaugural season at the school 33 years ago, prompting questions about his future at the program he transformed into a collegiate powerhouse.

On Sunday, Jim Smith, the chairman of the Florida State University's Board of Trustees, told a local newspaper that he thinks it may be time for Bowden to step down.

"My hope is frankly that we'll go ahead, and if we have to, let the world know that this year will be the end of the Bowden era," Smith told the Tallahassee Democrat,
"I do appreciate what he's done for us, what he's done for the program, what he's done really for the state of Florida.

Smith went on to say that the "Seminole Nation" has been more than patient with Bowden and the team's steady decline in success over the last seven or eight years. He thinks "enough is enough."

After Saturday's 28-21 loss at Boston College, two Florida newspapers, including the hometown Democrat, also said Bowden should call it a career at the end of this season.

Bowden has said that he and the university president will make a decision when they feel that the time is right as to his future.

"We are the ones who will determine what we do and what kind of progress we make," Bowden said. "I will determine my situation. I won't let some guys' speculation tell me when to move."
