Saturday night in Lank Shark Stadium the 17th ranked Miami Hurricanes host the 8th ranked Oklahoma Sooners in what should prove to me a fantastic football game.
The 2-1 Hurricanes have been able to get through 3/4 of a brutal early season schedule with just the one loss, but a match-up with the 2-1 Sooners could leave Miami with a .500 record after a fast start.
NCAA odds makers are calling the Sooners more than a touchdown favorite as the Vegas line is set at Oklahoma -7.5 with the total in the contest sitting at 51.5.
The Sooners thought they might get a healthy Heisman Trophy winner Sam Bradford back this week to complement its defense, but coach Bob Stoops said Thursday the junior quarterback's sprained shoulder will keep him out of the line-up again. Bradford suffered the injury in a 14-13 loss to then-No. 20 BYU in the opener.
With Bradford on the sideline, freshman Landry Jones has stepped in and done a nice job, completing 43 of 69 passes for 622 yards, nine touchdowns to just three interceptions in his two starts.
Miami's schedule includes Florida State, Georgia Tech, Virginia Tech and the Oklahoma Sooners as their first four games.
After starting 2-0 with wins against the Seminoles and Yellow Jackets, the Hurricanes were blown out 31-7 by the Hokies last week. Miami coach Randy Shannon says the Hurricanes are going "back to basics" this week.
Miami will need a lot more than "the basics" to get past the Sooners. Take Oklahoma and give the 7.5 points.
