Just days after reports surfaced that Colts defensive end Dwight Freeney would miss at least two weeks with a strained right quadriceps, Freeney isn't willing to accept that prognosis just yet. He has even been seen is walking around the locker room with no detectable limp and no crutches.

Due to Freeney's previous injury history, the Colts are not putting any timetable on his return.

"We're just not quite certain how long exactly it will take him," coach Jim Caldwell said. "He's always been a quick healer."

The word is that he is considered day-to-day, but if he can't go this Sunday against the Seattle Seahawks, veteran defensive lineman Raheem Brock will move into the starting lineup and play opposite Robert Mathis.

So
far this season, Brock has been used mostly in the stand-up position, moving around the line to give opposing offenses different looks. Caldwell said he might use more of Eric Foster and Keyunta Dawson, last year's starting defensive tackles, on the outside and perhaps linebacker Philip Wheeler.

Wheeler replaced Freeney after was hurt late in the third quarter last Sunday.

The Colts have been hit hard with injuries on defense this season. Middle linebacker Gary Brackett, safety Bob Sanders and cornerback Kelvin Hayden could also miss Sunday's game. All three are starters.

Indy hosts Seattle on Sunday, then they visit winless Tennessee in a game that could give the Colts the early inside track to reclaiming the AFC South title. Then Indy has a bye.
