San Francisco 49ers Sunday, the NFL's week three schedule gets underway and one of the more intriguing match-ups takes place in the Metrodome as this week's only match-up between unbeaten teams features Brett Favre and the Minnesota Vikings regular-season home debut as they try to prevent the 49ers from posting their first 3-0 start in 11 years.
Both teams are at 2-0. However, considering their first two opponents, the Vikings haven't shocked many prognosticators while the Niners may have surprised some with their hot start.
NFL Odds makers are not giving the 49ers much respect as the Vegas line sits at Vikings -7 with the total in the contest at 39.5.
In Minnesota, Brett Favre my be on everyone's watch list, but running back Adrian Peterson has done most of the work. In just two games, Peterson
Favre has had to throw for just 265 yards while Peterson has carried the load.
For the Niners, the catalyst of their offense has been, often forgot and sometimes under-rated, running back Frank Gore. Last Sunday, Gore bounced back from a 30-yard rushing effort against Arizona in week one with 207 yards on the ground in a 23-10 victory over Seattle. It was the franchise's third 200-yard rushing game and first since he rushed for a team-record 212 against Seattle in 2006.
The big question is; are the 49ers for real? We might get at good look at that Sunday in Minnesota. I think the 49ers will be ready to play and this will be one of Sunday's best games to watch. Look to see some scoring in this one.
Take the over 39.5 points in the Vikings-49ers game.
