Florida State Seminoles Saturday night the Florida State Seminoles head west to take on BYU in what should prove to be an exciting match-up. LaVell Edwards Stadium in Provo has proven to give the Cougars one of the nation's top home-field advantages over the past few seasons, however an even bigger buzz is expected as BYU has the program's highest ranking in more than a dozen years.
In their highly anticipated home opener, NCAA odds makers have the seventh-ranked Cougars as more than a touchdown favorite. The line is sitting at -8.5 with the total in the contest set at 54.
Coming into the match-up at 1-1, Florida State needed two scores in the final 35 seconds last Saturday night against Jacksonville State to avoid what could have been one of the most embarrassing upsets in school history. The FSU defense gave up over 200 yard through the air to a Gamecocks offense that was thought to be inferior.
Florida State coach Bobby
"Their quarterback can throw the heck out of the ball," Bowden said. "He can thread it."
Bowden is right. After throwing for 329 yards against the Sooners in their opener, Hall completed 24 of 32 passes for 309 yards, two touchdowns in last Saturday's 54-3 win over Tulane at the Superdome.
Florida State may have had a let down game against J-State, but Christian Ponder and the Noles offense looked very good in week one against a Miami Hurricanes team that has prove to be a force in college football. Bobby Bowden may not wear a headset on the sidelines anymore or call the plays, but he is still a great motivator. He will have the Seminoles ready to play.
Take the Seminoles getting the 8.5 points, they may not win the game, but a strong offense will keep it close.
