Boise State Broncos The Boise State Broncos have won seven of their past eight against the Fresno State Bulldogs, including a 61-10 win in 2008. Not since 2005 has Fresno State been able to take home a win in this match-up, when The Broncos jumped out to a 7-0 lead before the Bulldogs rattled off 27 consecutive points to beat the Broncos at Bulldog Stadium.
This season, a BCS Bowl berth seems within grasp for Boise State if they can make it through its conference schedule unbeaten. However, the Bulldogs might have something to say about that.
NCAA odds makers have Fresno State as more than a touchdown underdog at home in this one. The line is sitting at Boise State -7.5 with the total in the contest set at 54 as prognosticators don't expect to see very much defense.
Boise State set the tone for a memorable 2009 with a 19-8 victory over then-No. 16 Oregon in its opener, but to be considered for BCS Bowl, it will need to be perfect again from beginning to end. The Broncos have
Last week, Boise State got a career-high four touchdowns from quarterback Kellen Moore and over 300 yard through the air. Wide-out Titus Young hauled in six catches for 114 yards and two touchdowns. Young is emerging as one of Moore's favorite targets.
Fresno State coach Pat Hill is hoping his team's losing streak will end Friday when the teams meet again in Bulldog Stadium in one of the most anticipated matchups of the WAC season. These two team have never met in the conference opener.
"Right now, we're trying to catch Boise State and I think everyone else in our league is also, sort of like what's happening in the Pac-10," Hill said. "We're going to have to try and match-up our athletes on theirs."
I think coach Hill's team may be a season or two away from really competing. Look for Fresno State to keep it close early, but Boise State will pull away late as their depth begins to show.
Take the Broncos and give the 7.5 points.
