Joe Cox Georgia Bulldogs quarterback Joe Cox has been battling flu symptoms for almost two weeks now and coach Mark Richt may be getting ill as well. He is apparently sick of all the questions.
"We were going to tell him to wear an eye patch to media day," said Richt with a smile at his weekly news conference.
A flu virus, including a fever of 100 degrees, forced Cox to take a separate private plane to Georgia's season-opening 24-10 loss at Oklahoma State on Sept. 5. He says he lost about 10 pounds with the bug.
According to reports, the rumors swirling about the swine flu can be put to rest as he has been tested, and he is negative.
A week ago, Georgia revealed that nerve damage
"It's definitely been interesting to see how crazy it can get just based on what somebody says, but it hasn't been something that has been a distraction," Cox said. "It's just something that we've all laughed about."
Many though that the shoulder injury was something to be concerned about, however, the critics were silenced. Cox did start last Saturday and completed 17 of 24 passes for 201 yards and two touchdowns in Georgia's 41-37 win over the Gamecocks.
Cox said the shoulder injury will not require surgery and "is definitely not something I think about during a game."
