Cleveland Browns coach Eric Mangini may be feeling a little like Michael Corleone because every time he thinks he is done with New York, they pull him back in.

It is looking as if the Browns coach could receive some discipline for his role in covering up Brett Favre's torn biceps injury with the Jets last year.

The NFL is investigating Mangini's role in the Jets' failure to list quarterback Brett Favre's arm problem on injury reports last season. Mangini coached the Jets during Favre's one season in New York before he was fired after the team collapsed down the stretch.

New York Jets General Manager Mike Tannenbaum admitted last week that the team made a mistake and that Favre should have been listed as probable for the last four or five
games. With former coach Mangini departed to Cleveland, Tannenbaum accepted responsibility for the league infraction.

Commissioner Roger Goodell said he expects to rule on the matter this week. The Jets as well as Mangini could be subjected to fines.

However, Mangini has repeatedly denied any wrong doing. He said he has always abides by the league's guidelines for injury reports.

"That was true there. It's true here," Mangini said. "It'll be true every week of the season and that's how we approach it."

Because of the high-profile nature of the parties involved in this entire situation, Goodell will probably use it to set an example to the rest of the league.

"We establish policies," he said. "They're to be followed. And all 32 clubs are going to be held accountable for that."
