Michael Vick The Philadelphia Eagles have activated quarterback Michael Vick from its exempt list and added him to the 53-man roster, meaning he now is allowed to practice with the team. He will begin doing so Wednesday.
Apparently the Eagles are scrambling after the injury to starting quarterback Donovan McNabb as it has also bee reported that they have sign journeyman, Jeff Garcia.
The two moves sent minor shock-waves through the organization when the Eagles released wide receiver Hank Baskett to make room for Vick and placed Shawn Andrews, a two-time Pro Bowl offensive lineman, on injured reserve to make room for Garcia.
If head coach Andy Reid knows who will be under center for the Eagles this Sunday against the New Orleans Saints, he is not saying. One thing is
Despite the signing of Garcia, Kevin Kolb, who has yet to throw a touchdown pass in the NFL, will most likely still be the starting quarterback for the Eagles on Sunday when Drew Brees and the Saints come march in. But, only Andy Reid knows for sure.
Many thought the Eagles would simply bring in a body in case Kevin Kolb got hurt Sunday against the Saints. Instead, they have signed a player who replaced an injured McNabb in '06 and led the Eagles to a 5-1 record down the stretch and a playoff appearance.
If Garcia looks good in practice the rest of this week, don't be surprised if Kolb is on a short leash in what could be his last chance to prove his worth.
