Giants Odds What a way to start off your season, taking on division rival is always a big deal, but it's especially tough when it is in week one.
Sunday the Washington Redskins head to New York to take on the Giants in what could shape up to be a huge NFC Eastern Division match-up. The NFC East is expected to be on of, it not the toughest division in the league. Many experts have the NFC's representative in the Super Bowl coming out of the East.
NFL odds makers have the Giants as the favorite in this one. The line is sitting at, New York -6.5 with the total at 37.
This season, Giants quarterback Eli Manning will have to look to Steve Smith and Domenik Hixon with long-time starters Plaxico Burress and Amani Toomer gone. Manning threw for 305 yards and a touchdown as the Giants beat-up on the Skins, 23-7, in Week 13 of last season. He also needs rookie Hakeem Nicks to play
The Redskins already had a very good defense coming back, but they lacked the playmakers to cause a lot of turnovers. With the addition of Albert Haynesworth and the richest contract ever given to a defensive player in Washington, the Skins expected him to help the defense record more sacks and get more takeaways.
Quarterback Jason Campbell almost lost his job in the offseason when Washington flirted with trading for Jay Cutler and drafting Mark Sanchez. However, they now expect Campbell to make it to the next level. The Redskins need to score more and their signal caller is the key.
It probably won't happen overnight and it will be tough Sunday against a very tough Giants defense. I expect this to be a very good game, one of the weekends best. It is going to be tight. This one might come down to a late field goal.
Take the Redskins getting the 6.5 points.
