Miami Dolphins Sunday afternoon in the Georgia Dome, the Atlanta Falcons host the Miami Dolphins as the 2009 NFL regular season gets under way.
Both of these team are looking to build on last year's success and advance deeper in to the playoffs as they each were knocked out in the wild-card round a season ago.
NFL odds makers are calling the Falcons a home favorite in this week one match-up. The line is sitting at -4 with the total in the game at 43.5.
Last season the emergence of the wildcat offensive propelled Miami to an AFC East Division Title.
Before the season was over, almost every team in the league tried their own version of the Dolphins single wing formation. But few ran it as well as Miami. Ronnie Brown played in all 16 games for the first time
The Falcons got great seasons out of rookie quarterback Matt Ryan and running back Micheal Turner in 2008. Their success this season depends on them. The addition of tight-end Tony Gonzales will certainly help, but Ryan and Turner are key. The presence of Roddy White and Michael Jenkins make for an exceptional offense.
These teams have split their last six meetings, however you can throw that stat out the window as these are both very different teams than the ones that met back in 2005. Look for Atlanta to be able to control the flow and control the clock. This will be a close game but the Falcons will win.
Take Atlanta and give the 4 points at home.
