Favre Sitting Out
Favre Sitting Out
New York Jets head coach Eric Mangini is leaning toward Brett Favre sitting out the teams final preseason game against the Eagles. In the wake of injuries to players like Osi Umenyiora of the Giants and the Redskins Jason Taylor, it's probably not a bad idea. Mangini is more concerned with his team being ready for Miami in week one.

Most coached rest their veterans in the final preseason game to evaluate others competing for the last few spots on the roster. "If I had to tilt one way or the other, like an airplane, I'd tilt that way." Mangini said to reporters on Tuesday. He went on to say, "We've got two days here, I'm going to see what it
looks like over the two days and evaluate it." In his previous two preseasons as Jets coach, Mangini typically rested his starters in the final game.

Favre has play in a NFL record 253 straight regular season games.

The 38 year old, future Hall of Famer, reportedly said he would definitely like to play Thursday, but he would not be too disappointed if he had to watch from the sideline. In his two preseason starts, Favre has gone 14-of-18 with 144 yards, one touchdown and no interceptions.

Mangini said Kellen Clemens will start against Philadelphia on Thursday night. Clemens started in eight games last season after Chad Pennington injured his shoulder.
