Patriots vs Giants Super Bowl XLII was the most watched Super Bowl ever, and the second most watched television broadcast in history. Thursday night's rematch between the New England Patriots and the New York Giants will not be either. However, it still is an intriguing match up.
Odds makers are calling the Patriots a slight under-dog, as the Giants are favored by 2 at most major sports books with the over at 36.
The Patriots have not played well thus far in the preseason without their Pro Bowl quarterback Tom Brady. Back up Matt Cassel has been a disappointment and their defense has been lackluster. After rattling off 20 straight wins in 2007 (including preseason), the Pats have now actually lost 4 in a row. They will
The Giants come in to their final preseason game at 1-2. Eli Manning and the starting offense has not looked bad over their three games. Manning has gone 30-for-16 and has passed for 184 yards and 2 touchdowns. More importantly to coaches, Eli has not thrown an interception and has made good decisions with the football. Also, New York's rushers are averaging 4.8 yard per carry.
The Giants main concern is on their defensive line. With the losses of Pro Bowlers Osi Umenyiora to a season-ending knee injury and Michael Strahan to retirement, the Giants have some huge voids to fill. The possible return of Strahan would be huge, however neither side has confirmed any deal in the works.
