Sam Bradford BYU linebacker Coleby Clawson has seen more attention surrounding himself in the past couple of days than he has probably had in all the rest of his life put together.
Clawson applied the hit to Oklahoma Sooners quarterback Sam Bradford that sent shock waves throughout college football when the reigning Heisman Trophy winner was knock out of Saturday's game.
In the Cougars stunning 14-13 win over the 3rd ranked Sooners, Clawson may have shown the nation how one of his hits can shape a game and quiet possibly change the complexion of the entire 2009 season in college football. Now the senior from the tiny town of Wales, Utah is showing us all the type of man he is.
Clawson didn't have the chance to speak with Bradford after Saturday's
Clawson feels horrible about the play that is expected to keep Bradford on the sideline for about four weeks.
"I really do feel bad," Clawson said. "Sam Bradford is a great player and a good person, too. I feel bad that he got hurt, and I hope he can get back soon."
Anyone that saw the game live or has seen any of the thousands of replays shown on highlight reels knows that the hit was clean and that Clawson did nothing dirty on the play.
Clawson said it is the "nature of the beast, playing football," that players get hurt.
"I am always trying to get big hits," he said. "But I am never trying to put anybody out or hurt somebody."
