Saturday afternoon in Oakland, the New Orleans Saints take their high-powered offense out west to take on the Raiders in this week three NFL preseason match-up.
The Saints come in to this one at 2-0 after beating the Cincinnati Bengals at home and the Texans at Reliant Stadium in Houston. The Raiders are 1-1 after an impressive win against the Dallas Cowboys in week one and a loss to the San Francisco 49ers.
NFL odds makers have the Saints at -2.5 with the total in the game sitting at 41.
The Saints offense has been putting up points in bunches. They have averaged over 27 points per game. Most of that can be attributed to their depth at the quarterback position. New Orleans has Mark Brunell and Joey Harrington sitting behind Drew Brees to run their offense. In two games, the Saints have outscored their opponents 55-21.
The Raiders offense has looked very inconsistent in their first two preseason games. Head coach Tom Cable announced that JaMarcus Russell will be the Raiders starting quarterback heading into the regular season. Jeff Garcia will be the back-up. Cable is looking to create some stability early on, showing his confidence in Russell.
The Raiders season will rely on Russell's ability to lead his team. This kid all all the talent in the world, question is; can he pt it together and win football games.
As for the game it self, I like the Saints to win this one and cover. Take New Orleans and give the 2.5 points.
