Washington Redskins
Washington Redskins
Friday night when the New England Patriots head to Washington to take on the Redskins, both teams will look to keep their starters in a little longer as they try to evaluate talent.

At 1-1 in the preseason, New England expects to have quarterback Tom Brady and the offense build on the positive things that they did against the Cincinnati Bengals a week ago. Brady was 4 of 8 for 57 yards with no touchdown and no interceptions. Brady was quiet, but effective in limited action.

NFL odds makers have the Patriots at -3 with the total in the game sitting at 37.5.

The Redskins are going to try and do the same. A week ago against the Pittsburgh Steelers, Washington's ground attack pounded out 167 yards rushing. Running back Clinton Portis looked strong running for 26 yard on just 5 carries
averaging 5.2 per carry.

At the quarterback position, Jason Campbell needs to get on track. Campbell completed only one of his seven pass attempts against Pittsburgh. Last season, Campbell started hot. He threw no interceptions through the Redskins first 8 games leading Washington to a 6-2 start.

Then the Skins fell apart. Campbell threw six picks in the second half of the season and the Redskins lost six of eight and missed the playoffs. His rocky offseason in which Washington courted other options under center may still be lingering in the back of his mind.

If Campbell can straighten himself out, the Skins might surprise some people this season, especially if their running game continues to be strong.

As for Friday night, if Brady gets on a roll, the Patriots should win convincingly.

Take New England and give the 3 points.
