Trying To Get Back On Top Ben Roethlisberger was like so many young players when he entered the league a few years ago. What made things worse for Roethlisberger was his immediate success, winning the Super Bowl in just his second season.
After that Super Bowl win, Roethlisberger made the kind of mistakes that are usually reserved for rookies. In the off season, he went out and almost killed himself in a motorcycle accident. Since that day, Roethlisberger has made a commitment to growing up and being a team leader.
Now Big Ben and his teammates are looking to once again rise to the top of the NFL. Last year, they started strongly but faded down the stretch. They made a tremendous comeback against the Jaguars in the playoffs, but fell short of winning.
With that
"That's a big thing that young kids need to learn when they come in here as high draft choices. The way Pittsburgh loves the Steelers, it's like the old saying that sometimes there can be too much love. It can get overbearing and you have to learn how to handle it as a young guy. Some never get used to it. But he's doing real well," said Pittsburgh owner Dan Rooney.
With a mature Roethlisberger, the Steelers are once again ready to stake their claim as one of the teams to beat in the AFC, and that is something Steelers fans are looking forward to.
