The preseason USA Today Coaches' Poll has been released and the defending national champion Florida Gators top the list, receiving 53 of 59 first-place votes.

The Texas Longhorns are second in the poll released Friday, followed by Oklahoma Sooners, USC Trojans, and rounding out the top five is the Alabama Crimson Tide. Ohio State, Virginia Tech, Penn State, LSU and Mississippi are the rest of the top 10.

With the six first place votes that were not given to the Gators, Texas had four and USC and Oklahoma each had one.

The LSU Tigers, Virginia Tech Hokies and Mississippi Rebels are new to the coaches' top 10.

LSU was unranked to end last season, the Hokies finished 14th a season ago and Ole Miss was 15th at the end of last season.

The Oregon Ducks, TCU Horned Frogs and Utah Utes dropped out of the top 10 from last season's final poll.

Next up, the Oklahoma State Cowboys are ranked 11th in the preseason poll, followed by California, Georgia, Oregon, Georgia Tech, Boise State, TCU, Utah, Florida State and North Carolina.

The North Carolina Tar Heels broke into this year's preseason poll at no. 20. The Nebraska Cornhuskers and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish are also new to the rankings at no. 22 and 23 respectively.

The USA Today Top 25 is voted on by a panel of 59 coaches in the Bowl Championship Subdivision, formerly known as Division I-A.
