New York Giants
After going 12-4, the New York Giants ran away with the NFC East Division last season. This year they have set their sights a repeat in the division and another change at a Vince Lombardi Trophy.

One good thing for the G-Men that could keep them moving in the right direction is that quarterback Eli Manning has agreed to a contract extension with the Giants. Eli's new, six-year, $97.5 million deal, makes him the highest paid player (in terms of average annual salary) in the NFL.

NFL odds makers feel that the NFC East has three of the top favored teams to come out of the conference and represent the NFC in Super Bowl XLIV. The Giants, Philadelphia Eagles and the Dallas Cowboys top the list. The Giants are sitting at 9/2, the Cowboys are 7/1 and the Eagles are at 13/2.

In the off-season, the Giants got rid of their biggest distraction by dumping Plaxico Burress. However, in losing Burress,
they also lost Eli Manning's number one target. New York hopes that either Steve Smith, Domenik Hixon, or rookie Hakeem Nicks can step-up and pick-up the slack.

As for the Eagles, the off-season was very productive. They had a good draft adding the likes of WR Jeremy Maclin and RB LeSean McCoy. Donovan McNabb always draws some heat even when he's playing well, but the Eagles rewarded their Pro Bowl quarterback this June with a restructured contract that means a raise of about of about $5 million in the next two years.

With a happy signal caller this team will make a real run at the division title this year.

Even though the Dallas Cowboys are one of the favorites, they have not won a playoff game since 1996. There are just too many questions left to be answered to feel confident about the Cowboys in 2009. Tony Romo is out of excuses, can he lead the Cowboys offence over the hump? Will the loss of Terrell Owens be as positive as everyone expects it to be?
