With the start of the NFL preseason just a little over six weeks away, NFL football bettors are getting geared up for another exciting season on the gridiron.

The Washington Redskins made the biggest splash of the offseason when they signed massive defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth, who was regarded as the best of the free agents on the market.

Odds makers are giving the Redskins 5/1 odds to win the NFC East, 12/1 odds to win the conference and represent the NFC in Super Bowl XLIV and the Skins are sitting at about 25/1 to win it all in 2009.

Last season, the Redskins were an extremely inconsistent 8-8 and the big question will be whether quarterback Jason Campbell can have a good year after being shopped in the off-season as the Redskins unsuccessfully pursued Jay Cutler.

The Skins have talent on offense with Clinton Portis
and Santana Moss. Campbell has proven to be a solid game manager that protects the ball well. If they can stay healthy, their offense should be able to put up enough point to win some games.

On defense, Haynesworth is expected to shut down the opposition's running game which should take a lot of pressure off Jim Zorn's offense.

If Washington can develop some consistency and they play more like the team that showed up in their eight wins last season, they could be a potential sleeper.

If won't be easy coming out of the NFC East. The East should be the toughest division in the NFL. The Giants are going to be tough again and if Philly keeps Brain Westbrook and Donovan McNabb healthy, they are always explosive. Not to mention the Dallas Cowboys who have so much talent and could be very good as well.

It won't be easy, but the Washington Redskins have the capability to make some noise in the 2009 season.
