Tennessee Titans
Tennessee Titans
The Tennessee Titans finished last year's regular season at 13-3, landed the AFC's No. 1 seed and home field advantage, only to be unceremoniously ousted in the divisional round 13-10 by the Baltimore Ravens.

This season the Titans look to take the next step and advance deeper in the post-season for a shot at the Lombardi Trophy. However, odds makers don't seem to have the same optimism for Tennessee.

The Titans are sitting at a 25/1 shot to win Super Bowl XLIV, while Vegas prognosticators are calling there chances at a AFC South Division title to be about 3/1. Sports books are calling the Indianapolis Colts the favorite to win the South.

The Tennessee's 2nd ranked defense from a year ago will have to due without their best player on defense DT Albert Haynesworth. With his contract up at the end of 2008, Haynesworth signed a seven-year, $100 million contract with
the Washington Redskins on the first day of free agency.

The Titans did re-signing kicker Rob Bironas and quarterback Kerry Collins, as well as franchising tight end Bo Scaife. They also signed free agent defensive tackle Jovan Haye to try and replace Haynesworth in the middle of the defense. They also signed wide receiver Nate Washington, formerly of the Super Bowl Champion Pittsburgh Steelers.

The loss of Haynesworth is going to hurt the Titans. They will simply not be as good against the run as they were last year, keeping them on the field for longer stretches. Quarterback Kerry Collins and the offense is going to have a lot more pressure on them to score points. I think the odds makers got this one right.

I am not saying the Titans have no chance at a championship, but the AFC South is going to be a dog-fight. Be sure to circle December 6th on your calender when the Titans head to Lucas Oil Stadium to take on the Colts.
