San Diego Chargers With the NFL preseason only about one month away, football fans are already looking to get an edge on this year's betting season. As we take a look at the AFC West, one would think all roads must lead through San Diego.
And they would be right.
Early lines have the Chargers listed at about a 12-1 shot to win a Super Bowl in the upcoming 2009 season. Also, odds makers are calling San Diego about an 11-2 favorite to take home their fourth straight AFC West Division title and fifth in the last six years.
The San Diego Chargers crept into the postseason last year because of a late meltdown by the Denver Broncos. Now, with Jay Cutler gone and the Broncos having a big question mark at the quarterback position, Denver has a chance at
The Kansas City Chiefs should be a whole lot better than they were a season ago. However, with all the changes KC has who knows what you are going to get out of them.
As for Oakland; they will be the same old Raiders. The Silver and Black may have a lot of young talent at the skill positions, but that talent is unproven.
The San Diego Charges have not made a lot of moves this off-season. They will basically have the same team coming back for the 2009 campaign. Quarterback Philip Rivers is poised to have another great season. With Chris Chambers and Vincent Jackson on the outside, Antonio Gates over the middle and the one-two punch of LaDainian Tomlinson and Darren Sproles coming out of the backfield, the AFC West may be the league's only no-brainer.
