Wembley Stadium The NFL is considering adding a second regular-season game overseas in time for the 2010 season. However, Commissioner Rodger Goodell has reiterated there are no plans to move the Super Bowl to London.
After seeing fans jam London's Wembley Stadium to watch the NFL the past two years, the league plans to discuss the possibility of added and second overseas game to the 2010 schedule.
"The fan reaction we've had in London has been extraordinary. We would like to feed that passion," Goodell said. "We have a great fan base in the UK. There have been discussions of taking the second game and playing it in another market in the UK."
The NFL first put on a regular-season game in London in 2007, when the New York Giants beat the Miami Dolphins
Both games were sellouts, and fans quickly bought up tickets for this season's match-up between the New England Patriots and Tampa Bay Buccaneers scheduled for October 25th.
Critics feel that the travel involved in the overseas game brings unnecessary strain on players. They have also looked to the team that is considered the home in the game. That team in essence losses and home game on their schedule.
Some feel that playing games in London is ridiculous and think that the league should be expanding within U.S. borders. Games played in cities like Los Angeles, Las Vegas and San Antonio make more sense. The NFL should cater to Americans rather than the Brits. Leave international games to pre-season.
